Beautiful job Gary. I don't remember seeing this pattern before. Very simple, yet classy, at the same time.

i agree with kelly, this fly is tied to perfection...
If you like to tie flies, are a more than just a beginner, then you should take this class. Don is one of the best tyers in the world and has probably forgotten more than most of us will ever know about tying. This kind of class, and this level of teacher, comes along only once in a lifetime. I highly recommend the class & Don.
Cheers, Joel
P.S. Don is also a really nice guy.

Kate,
Actually I haven't been that busy. This is stuff that I do in my spare time and really enjoy doing, so it's all leisurely and "slow cooking". This particular article has been a month or so underway, shooting pictures, ordering needles from here and there, visiting the local flyshop and so on.
And the pipeline isn't there to create deadlines. Everything in the pipeline is ready to get published. I just stretch the publishing dates so that you don't get all the goodies at once, but have something to look forward to in the coming time.
Martin
Darren, as Kelly L says above, you have also "brightened my life" with this project and although I happened upon it late, it has been a resource that has renewed my passion for tying flies and for that I am grateful. What I'm not greatful for is the expense that I have incurred in trying to source good materials to tie these flys and for that I WILL GET EVEN with you.JJJJ LOL!!
Kidding aside, thanks for the hard work you put into this and I'm going to miss getting my "new pattern" around 8:15 am Pacific Time.
Cheers.
Don't get mad, get even right. :)
I'm glad to hear how you have enjoyed the project Barry. I'm happy to tell you that it will continue on a bit of a smaller scale. Look for the email a couple times a week now. :) Cheers
Thanks Kelly for both your streamers and for all of the wonderful comments you have posted each day. You were the number one commenter on the blog for the year with well over 200 posts. :)
Cheers!
I knew we would see some of your work here, this topic is right up your alley.Looking forward to seeing more. Great jod on this one Bob
the peacock really makes this fly pop
Bob,this is a beautiful little hairwing, tied to perfection.
Nice start to the New Year, Bob. Looking forward to more.
I have added your illustration to my book. Very nice hopper. My grandson and I ty flies. I do terresterals but it is so intense that my eight tear old grandson has trouble with some of the technics. I am trying not to let his interest stop. When I show him a regular fly he calls it old school. We are getting ready to go to ty fest in Feburary, any advice. I have talked to some of the big names that I respest.
Martin,
You have been very busy. This is really a comprehensive article on tube fly needles. I use the HMH tube attachment with my Regal vice; when I find my felting needles, I will give them a try. Pipeline is a great preview tool; it will keep you on your toes to meet the specific deadlines. Tube flies need more recognition. They would be ideal to use when fishing for the toothy bluefish. Thank you. Kate
This is a great site, one I visit daily and have taken techniques from and incorporated into my own tying. One suggestion, however: for tying videos NOT in english, how about posting the recipe or pattern materials in english somewhere in the video description. For example, Mr. Giancarlo from Italy ties some remarkable flies that I would like to try, but not knowing the materials used hinders me, and others I suspect. I don't understand a word he says, and while I could approximate his efforts, it would be nice to know the exact ingredients. Just look at the instructions to comment on this page: Only in English..Just a thought.

Thank You Joseph Russell
Val, it was a real pleasure to be able to include your streamers in the project. I wanted to finish with a big fly and this certainly fit the bill. Thanks!
A big thanks to everyone for all the great comments. It's been quite a year with the project, and I'm glad to be keeping it going into 2013, and perhaps 2014. :)
Tie them long.
Darren, you brightened my life with this project. I loved looking at the "streamer of the day". I looked forward to that each, and every day. Thank you for all the hard work. This was a brilliant project. The tyers delighted me with their renditions of new, and old patterns. Thank you all so very much!

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
