I actually made a similar pattern once(other secret colour), and it's a real trout killer. On my best trip, i caught 6 Rainbows in 6 casts :) try it, i can only recommend it.

Thanks for the information. Actually what I am looking for is a hook that will glide hook up so as to not catch the moss near the bottom where I am fishing for large mouth bass.
That blue hackle is beyond "Blue"!! Stunning. Just sets of the rest of the fly. Love it!
What a coincidence, just saw the part from Trout Unlimited: On the rise. Great shop and great fishing at the driftless area!
I was thinking of building some rod case's and you gave me the boost I needed
Dave, this is so beautiful. The Argus Pheasant wing just makes this fly stand out.
David, this fly is outstanding. I also love the Argus Pheasant. The colors are so complimentary. The fly is masterfully tied. Bravo!
Beautiful fly Dave, I can imagine the other wing color combinations would work so well also.
"Jos, Thank you"
I had to laugh. Did the almighty Jos Vanrunxt connected this salmon to the guy's fly himself?
I hope not.
I remember Jos from our times at the Pielach, when he lost the keys of his car, finding out after he was soaked in the river.
Went up, to find a screwdriver to unleash his wheelcover, where a spare key was hidden to change clothes.
5 miles up, 5 miles down. Change clothes and 5 miles up and down for a second time, to bring back the screwdriver.
Half an hour after that, he "drowned" for a second time.
We found him in his car, exhausted, wet, tired and half a sleep.
That day, he caught his biggest grayling sofar. We called him "NELIS"
I enjoy watching Floris tie his deer hair creations. He is very talented in the art of tying with deer hair. I have improved my tying following his techniques. Thanks Floris!
The Black Cat is my kind of streamer, that will be great for trolling this spring. I will tying a few the coming weekend at a show where I will be tying. Great job with the project.
Super! Love the contrasting colors. Makes the fly pop!
Very beautiful Black Cat Darren. I just tied one recently myself but no where near as nice as yours. Thank you for the tips and I will store that info away for future use.
Thanks Loretta. I was pretty pleased with how this one turned out. I had tied one up a few months back and misplaced it. I had to tie another as I had scheduled it here. I found the original one I had tied for the project shortly after tying this one and decided this one was the nicer streamer.
Wow, Darren...you blew it all out on this one. Magnificent! I love it!!
The Black Cat is a outstanding picture of beauty I will be tying a couple this weekend at a show. I will be trying them this spring trolling for brook trout and salmon.
Simply elegant! I really appreciate your tips. Sometimes you go to tie a fly and it's just those few tid bits of information that makes or breaks a fly.
Thanks Avril. I've had lot of helpful critiques over the years that I've picked up tips from.
Thank you Monte. I love blue in a fly. There is one particular place I fish now and then, where blue is a big winner.
jay2e,
There's some advice about shad fishing and patterns in this article - The old Hickory http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbetter/shad/ - right here on GFF.

… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
