PS: Only musky I ever caught, I hooked accidentally on a Wooly Bugger. He took the fly, but I got 'im right in the tip of the snout or he'd have broken me off.

Sorry that I'm just now realizing I had comments here on some of my patterns. I appreciate your mention and link to my blog post on the Barnes Special. I as tying that pattern back in the late '80's when I first started to fish the Moosehead Lake region of Maine. I also liked it enough and for its different components that I included the Barnes Special in my streamer DVD.

Very nice fly, that Jungle Princess. Wonder if it's any way connected to Carrie Stevens' Jungle Queen? I have Gregg's book, l but it's been some time since I looked at it. A few of the other patterns there too, would be nice to tie up. Good job my friend!
Thanks for the comment Don. Yes, I do think there is a bit of a connection with Jungle Queen, but really just the yellow in the wing seems to fit. It's interesting in that the 2 different versions of the book have 2 different sets of streamers listed including Carrie's grey Ghost. Only 3 of the streamers in the photograph are described, and there are 7 other streamers included in the listing.
I am amazed by the various brutal methods recommended for cleaning cork fly rod handles (bleach, lacquer thinner, sandpaper, etc). I have been fly fishing for over 30 years and found the quickest, easiest method is to use Ronsonol lighter fluid. Wet a soft cotton cloth with the lighter fluid and rub the cork handle gently to remove dirt and discoloration of the cork. It works very well and over the years, I have observed no degradation of or damage to the cork handles on my many fly rods.

I just "fixed" a Sully Rod Dryer, it's set up to dry 2 rods at a time. All it took was 2 - 2 3/16 X 3/32 O-Rings that I bought from the Local Hardware Store. By Local Hardware Store, I'm talking about one of those disappearing relics owned by a very old man. he's 82 or so. It's one of those great hardware stores where you can find everything and anything, and it's about 10 miles closer than any "Big Box" company, and many times, it's cheaper. I digress.
What a cheap fix!
Each O-Ring was 60 Cents, so for $1.20 I got this thing up and running again.
