I'm glad you found the article and the flies amazing. This is just a small sampling of the flies in my collection. I have over 138 custom built tube flies that I have compiled in a YouTube slide show called Catskill Tube Flies. You can view the slide show by going to Youtube.

I plan on enhancing this collection as time goes on. A plan for instructional videos is coming soon. Just subscribe to the slide show and check back from time to time. Wax that sewing need

Wax that sewing needle or dip it in a thread conditioner such as "Thread Heaven". It will slip more easily. Also, in regard to the technique involving pushing the needle through backward, when you make your cut in the side of the flyline, a 20ga hypodermic needle has a very sharp, controllable bevel on it's end that serves well as a tiny knife. The word sharp bears mentioning twice. It will make it very easy to keep your cut the length you want it. It's also the ideal size for cutting down to a splinter in your skin, allowing you to lift it out easily.

The best black hair legally available is fine shiney hair from a young Asian girl.
Just go to a salon and ask the beautician to save you some. I have used this hair
For years and caught sea runs, Atlantic salmon, and steelhead all over the world.
It is by far my #1 most productive fly in various sizes for these fish.

I fish for Landlocked Salmon in Western Labrador and this fly is the best fly I have ever used for Landlocks. If there is a Landlock salmon in the pool this fly will take it on the first cast most all the time.

Well, #2 daughter its like this, after 78 years poking around the hidden treasures of the Earth I still find joy in the chase and all that goes with it, not so much with the harvest. Those I've met on this journey have been the treasure which filled my life and not so much the fish.

I just wondered how

I just wondered how it is that my father, Bob Kenly, has been published in a fishing magazine for NOT catching fish? Am I missing something here??? I'm not an expert Dad, but I'm pretty sure people want to hear about the actual CATCHING of fish. Looking forward to the gripping conclusion! Haha!
